I was always a Bulldogs supporter. From the moment I started watching footy, my team became the Bulldogs and I had to be a part of it somehow. All this time, while all these other teams have been winning titles and making finals appearances, we’ve just been there at the bottom, waiting for our chance to make it back up again. But now that Tommy is playing in 2020…that’s when things will change. We’ll win! And when we do, no one will ever call me Loyalty or anything like that again because this time it’ll be different; they’ll know why I’m called loyalty:

“Wait, is this the new Bulldogs jacket? It looks amazing!” I said with a smile. The staff smiled at me and acknowledged my question, “yes it is! This one has your name on the back in gold lettering. Isn’t it grand? Here are some more photos of our newest design.” I nodded in approval as they went to grab another box from the shelves behind them. I looked at all of these jackets lining up on display for purchase. They were really quite lovely!

Liam finishes school and the next day he was off to buy his 2021 NRL Canterbury Bulldogs letterman jacket. He ran into some friends who were also buying their jackets, only they were for different teams. “Hey Liam, I’m going with the Dragons.” said one of them. “I’ll be cheering on Roosters” said another friend as she walked away from him down the street. As he passed a shop window that had a display of rugby union gear, he saw a photo of himself wearing his new Bulldogs jacket and holding up the premiership trophy!

I sprinted through the office door out of breath and panting. I was late for work, but that didn’t matter - all that mattered was getting to my locker before it’s too late. The clock on the wall read 5:43 AM and time seemed to be slowing down as if mocking me. “Oh no,” I thought to myself, “I’m going to miss my new Jacket!”

When I was 11, my dad gave me a yellow NRL Canterbury Bulldogs 2021 Letterman Jacket for Christmas. It’s the only thing he ever bought me in my whole life - well, actually it was one of two things I got that year. The other being a pair of red Adidas shoes with white stripes on them which are now worn out from all the time I spent outside playing football and basketball. When he first gave it to me, I immediately put it on and went out onto the street wearing it as if I had been given an entire wardrobe from Nike or adidas or something like that. I would wear that jacket every day after school before going inside to do my homework and eat dinner with mum and dad at home each night before

In 2021, the Bulldogs were faced with a major problem. They still had to wear their old letterman jackets from 2019 but they sold out of them before 2020. The management team brainstormed about what to do and decided that they would put a “special edition” sticker on all new jackets for sale in 2022 because there was no way they could make enough for this year.

The Canterbury Bulldogs are preparing for their 2021 season. They’re getting all their gear together, making sure they have the latest training methods, and reviewing last year’s footage to study what needs improvement. As part of this process, they need to make a decision about which letterman jacket to wear on game day. The players want theirs made with genuine leather so it will last longer but the one supplier in town has already used up its entire stock of authentic bull hide due to an overseas order from another team. The coach is frustrated by the lack of choice and tells his assistant coaches that he’ll take care of finding an alternative material if he can find someone who knows how leather feels or smells like without actually touching them.
